What is Breast Reduction Surgery?

Cosmetic Breast Surgery at Cosmetic Surgery Associates includes Breast Augmentation, Breast Lift (mastopexy) and Breast Reduction with lift. These procedures are typically performed in an outpatient setting with IV sedation or general anesthesia. Recovery is usually no more than a few days, with return to normal activity in a week. Dr.Piña offers an artistic approach to cosmetic breast procedures and is skilled in creating a more full, natural, youthful appearing breast.

Breast Reduction with Lift surgery at Southern Surgical Arts is unique. Dr.Piña's technique for lifting and reducing the breast typically results in a very youthful, perky breast and adds fullness to the upper area of the breast while minimizing scarring, often without the large scar along the lower crease. Often a lollipop style scar is adequate to achieve lifted, smaller and more youthful breasts. There is also a new technique in which Smartlipo laser technology is added to the procedure, along with liposuction to reduce the overall size. This creates more lift, skin firming and allows for even smaller scars with improved results. This new technique is offered by only a handful of surgeons in the United States, and Dr. Piña trains surgeons from around the country in the use of the Smartlipo laser so that they too can offer the most cutting edge procedures to their patients.

· Desires aesthetic enhancement of the breast
· Desires augmentation, lift or reduction of the breast

Large breasts can cause problems in many aspects of a woman's life. When they are larger than the usual standards of attractiveness in our society, the breasts are considered aesthetically displeasing. There can be a feeling of uncomfortable fullness, neck or back pain, and shoulder grooving. These symptoms may contribute to limited performance in certain occupations and in sports. Finally, large breasts can also be difficult to assess for lumps or masses, thus making cancer detection much more difficult for the patient or for her physician.
